Child Tax Credits for Pregnant Moms

Senator Lee has consistently advocated for tax reforms that remove the distortions in the tax code that harm American families. In the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017, Senator Lee joined with Senator Rubio to fight for an expanded child tax credit as part of President Trump’s signature tax cut.

Senator Lee recently partnered with Senator Daines to introduce a bill that would extend the child tax credit to expectant mothers.

The child tax credit is a societal statement to recognize the value that children bring to our country. The child tax credit also offsets the costs that parents make as they invest their time, effort, and money into raising the next generation. Parenthood begins long before birth, and the emotional and time investments that mothers give to their unborn children during the prenatal period is an important foundation for strong families. Utah recognizes the value of families more than anywhere else. In addition to adding to the benefits created by the current child tax credit, this bill will help protect life, support parents, and reduce the number of children born into poverty.
